Choosing Electives

Smeal Executive MBA offers 2nd year students and opportunity to choose electives. The list of these is customized every year based on world events, financial markets, class feedback and interest and a number of other variables. The list typically consists of 6-8 options and is distributed to the class around May of their first summer. Students should expect full course descriptions and professor names at that time. The methodology employed to decide which electives the class gets is a simple online vote deployed within two weeks of receipt of the options. Students are asked to indicate not only their interest but the strength of their interest by allocating 100 points across all of the elective options. In the case where the data shows a significant split in class interest, the Smeal EMBA program may provide an opportunity to go to split sections.
